Popular, Children’s Foundation unveil mural at Bayamón hospital

Employees of the Puerto Rico Children’s Foundation and Popular Inc. have transformed the Imaging Center at Puerto Rico Children’s Hospital in Bayamón with a coastal-themed mural designed to create a calming atmosphere for pediatric patients.
The initiative, completed by volunteers from Popular’s Social Commitment program, turned the space into one filled with blue tones, rocks and plants meant to comfort children undergoing medical tests.
“With the mural, we seek to continue supporting the hospital, this time by creating a more pleasant environment for patients so they feel more comfortable and at ease while undergoing their tests,” said Stephanie Moore, chief executive and executive director of the foundation.
The project was guided by art teacher Raysa Saldaña, coordinated by School Program Director Christian Ramírez and supported by the hospital administration, the foundation said.
The foundation noted that such projects are made possible through donations and long-term partnerships.
“Popular’s support has been invaluable, not only financially but also humanly. Their volunteer labor allows us to optimize the foundation’s resources, such as those of the art teacher, to continue providing quality services to those most in need,” Moore said.
Popular employees who took part in the volunteer effort included Itzel García-Catalán, Jenidza Nieves, Yazmin Mendoza-Berríos and Abner Díaz.
