PRIIN launches to connect impact capital with Puerto Rico entrepreneurs

David Geeter-Álvarez, co-founder of the Puerto Rico Impact Investment Network

The Puerto Rico Impact Investment Network, or PRIIN, has officially launched with the goal of mobilizing values-driven capital to support sustainable economic development on the island.

The network is inviting investors, philanthropists and changemakers — both local and from the diaspora — to align funding with high-impact enterprises operating in Puerto Rico.

PRIIN’s first public event, part of an eight-session hybrid speaker series, will take place June 11. Titled “Exploring the Continuum of Capital for P.R.,” the bilingual virtual session will feature regional and international voices in the impact investing space, including representatives from Latimpacto, the Platform for Social Impact and Just Strategies.

The network is organized in two parts: a Learning Network that builds community and understanding around impact investing, and an Action Network focused on deploying philanthropic venture capital into Puerto Rican social enterprises.

“PRIIN is a safe space for leaders, funders and changemakers to come together around a shared vision of equitable growth,” said co-founder David Geeter-Álvarez. “It’s an impact network that puts learning into action and channels capital where it’s needed most.”

The speaker series is sponsored by the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust.

“We are pleased to support this PRIIN initiative, whose goal is to foster the island’s sustainable economic development,” said Lucy Crespo, CEO of the Science Trust.

PRIIN also announced a strategic joint venture with Latimpacto, a Latin American network of impact capital providers. The partnership will promote cross-border collaboration and share case studies that could help inform Puerto Rico’s economic transformation.

The organization was founded by Geeter-Álvarez of Futura and Luis A. Ferré-Rangel of EcoCelerate and David. PRIIN aims to recruit at least 100 active members by 2026 and launch a pilot fund to support mission-driven ventures on the island, the co-founders said.
