Solx Puerto Rico to host job fair for new solar panel plant in Aguadilla

Solx Puerto Rico, the the island’s first solar panel manufacturing plant, will hold a job fair Aug. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Building 2 on the HPE campus in Aguadilla to recruit more than 50 employees for initial operations.
The event, organized with Conexión Laboral del Noroeste (Northwest Labor Connection), is open to candidates for roles including engineers, technicians, supervisors, operators and other specialized staff.
“This job fair, together with Solx Puerto Rico, not only represents new jobs, but also the opportunity for our people to be part of an innovative project that will transform the renewable energy industry on the island,” said Lourdes Ríos-Muñiz, executive director of Conexión Laboral del Noroeste.
Aguadilla Mayor Julio Roldán called the company’s arrival “a victory for economic development and the creation of quality jobs,” saying it “places Aguadilla on the map of innovation and clean energy.”
Backed by an initial $64 million investment, Solx Puerto Rico is setting up operations at the former Hewlett-Packard complex. The project is expected to create 610 jobs over five years and generate $845 million in sales.
Openings at the fair include facilities technicians, R&D engineers, test engineers, material handlers, manufacturing supervisors, quality control specialists, planners, cost accountants and product engineers.
