Space Summit returns to Puerto Rico to drive innovation

Puerto Rico will host the second edition of the Caribbean Space Summit from Oct. 28–30 at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Resort & Casino in San Juan.
Organized by the Puerto Rico Space Foundation, the event is expected to bring together global leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs for three days of discussions on how space technologies can support economic growth and resilience.
Organizers said the island is positioning itself as a hub for aerospace development, citing advantages that include its equatorial location for satellite trajectories, U.S. jurisdiction ensuring regulatory stability, established infrastructure and a highly skilled workforce.
They noted that these factors create opportunities in telecommunications, biosciences, health care, advanced manufacturing and sustainable development, while offering new avenues for Puerto Rico’s academic and research communities.
Under the theme “Resilient Futures Through Space Innovation,” the summit will feature keynote presentations, panels, networking events and exhibitions. Sessions will address in-space production, microgravity research, investment opportunities and the societal impact of space-enabled technologies.
A keynote luncheon presented by the U.S. Defense Innovation Unit will highlight the role of commercial and dual-use technologies.
The program will also include workforce development, STEM initiatives, spaceport operations and international governance frameworks.
Students and researchers will present projects showcasing the Caribbean’s contributions to the global space industry, and an exhibition floor will feature emerging innovations.
Networking opportunities, including a cocktail reception, are designed to strengthen collaborations and attract new investment to Puerto Rico’s aerospace ecosystem.
Participants will have access to site visits, including the planned Puerto Rico Spaceport at Roosevelt Roads, the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and meetings with members of the Aerospace Cluster.
Registration for CSS2025 is open. Students have until Sept. 30 to submit abstracts for consideration.
