The Puerto Rico Telecommunications Regulatory Board has begun a series of meetings with the island’s major telecom providers to probe charges and credits to customers left without service after the hurricanes that slammed the island in September.
Puerto Rico’s wireless telecom providers have restored between 82 percent and 95 percent of services to sites ravaged by Hurricane María in September, but a full restoration will hinge on controlling vandalism, copper theft and restored energy service.
Wireless provider AT&T has debuted its helicopter Flying COW, to provide data, voice, and text services to customers as it works to restore its Puerto Rico network, which Hurricane María virtually destroyed when it made landfall on Sept. 20.
