Puerto Rico Telephone has asked a federal judge to impose a penalty against OneLink Communications in the latest chapter of a legal battle unleashed about two years ago when the San Juan operator tried to block the telephone carrier from breaking into the island’s cable market.
Hugo Neu Americas Recycling Complex officials said Monday the company “is closer” to completing its permitting process, after the Appellate Court denied a petition by Schnitzer Puerto Rico Inc. to reconsider its previous decision of granting permission to the proposed $80 million operation.
Puerto Rico Food distributor Pedro Barba e Hijos Inc., Humacao drugstore owner Manuel Mediavilla Inc., and developer Joseph McCloskey-Diaz — who was involved in a highly-publicized mortgage fraud scheme in 2009 — were among the most recent commercial bankruptcy filings, with upward of $20 million in combined debt.
