More than 20 farmers and culinary artisans were invited to La Fortaleza last week to take part in a special edition of the Economic Development Bank-sponsored Urban Market event intended to expose them to the requirements to become suppliers to the governor’s mansion.
Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi on Tuesday urged Puerto Rico farmers to participate in the six orientation sessions the U.S. Farm Service Agency will conduct through Dec. 15, to let them know of the assistance programs available to them in the case of natural disasters and other emergencies.
Farmers grouped under the Puerto Rico Farm Bureau’s dairy sector could be forced to dump some 7 million quarts of raw milk at the farm level due to the inaction of the government agencies regulating the industry, which has left them with a surplus in production, trade group leaders said Friday.
