The Puerto Rico Science Technology & Research Trust is turning to the startup ecosystem as a contributing solution to Puerto Rico's current economic crisis with the launch of Parallel18, a program with the goal of expanding the horizons of local entrepreneurs in the short term and create economic development in the long run.
Seven organizations focused on environmental affairs will split more than $100,000 in funding from the Fundación Toyota Environmental Grants program, announced during the 18th edition of the automaker’s initiative.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded just over $14 million to fund 21 projects in Puerto Rico during the 2015 fiscal year, a record figure that went toward modernizing infrastructure, providing essential services and improving access to health care, José Otero-García, Rural Development State Director for Puerto Rico, said.
