U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Tuesday that applications are being accepted for grants to finance broadband deployment in remote, rural areas, including Puerto Rico. The announcement is one part of the agency’s efforts to strengthen the rural economy, he said.
U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that the agency is seeking applications from organizations that will provide technical assistance to rural businesses, through the Rural Development’s Rural Business Opportunity Grant (RBOG) program.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded nearly $50,000 to two Puerto Rico organizations, Leaders of the World and the Scuba Dogs Society, to educate low-income communities about effective waste management, recycling and the negative effects of improper waste disposal on people’s health and water quality.
