The United Automobile Importers Group (known as GUIA for its initials in Spanish) confirmed Monday that the downward spiral that Puerto Rico’s car industry has been on this year continued in May, when sales were down 6.7 percent year-over-year.
The United Group of Automobile Importers, (known as GUIA for its initials in Spanish), predicted Wednesday a stable 2014 for auto sales in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, after wrapping 2013 with virtually flat results.
Puerto Rico car sales showed a slight improvement last month, when 8,906 vehicles were sold on the island, representing a 1.7 percent year-over-year increase, said the United Automobile Importers Group (known as GUIA for its initials in Spanish), an organization that represents the local automotive industry.
