Puerto Rico stands to receive a $1 billion assignment from U.S. Congress under the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which would cover the local government’s public healthcare coverage plan for the medically indigent through Sept. 30, 2018, said Health Insurance Services Administration Executive Director Ángela Ávila.
In their almost 52 years of existence, Medicaid and Medicare, jointly with the Children’s Health Insurance Program (“CHIP”), have alleviated the suffering of millions of children, low-income adults and elderly people by enabling them to access dignified health care.
The Advance Notice and Draft Call Letter recently issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services includes proposals that if finally implemented would result in a minor net increase of 1.6 percent to calendar year 2018 Medicare Advantage benchmark rates for Puerto Rico.
