Avara Pharmaceutical Services in Arecibo and Merck in Las Piedras were two of 93 manufacturing plants that earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star certification for their superior energy performance in 2017, the government regulator announced.
High-ranking executives from AIAC, better known as the American Industrial Acquisition Company, arrived to Puerto Rico on Monday to make the company’s official debut in the island’s pharmaceutical industry, following its acquisition of the former Merck plant in Arecibo earlier this year.
Two pharmaceutical giants, Bayer AG and Merck, announced this morning a deal through which the first has agreed to pay $14.2 billion for the latter’s Consumer Care Unit, picking up global trademark and prescription rights for a number of recognized brands, including Claritin and Afrin.
