As early as next week, Puerto Rico’s U.S. passport service office will resume operations, Resident Commissioner, Jenniffer González confirmed.
Secretary of State Luis Rivera-Marín expressed his dissatisfaction Monday with the interruption in passport services the U.S. Department of State ordered, which forces Puerto Rico residents to request the service in Miami.
The San Juan Passport Agency will reopen to the public for U.S. passport services beginning Aug. 17, 2015, at the Minillas Government Center, agency officials announced Thursday.
Starting next year, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Island U.S. residents will be able to get their passports issued at the U.S. State Department branch that will open in San Juan, rather than stateside, government officials said Thursday.
