Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi on Tuesday urged Puerto Rico farmers to participate in the six orientation sessions the U.S. Farm Service Agency will conduct through Dec. 15, to let them know of the assistance programs available to them in the case of natural disasters and other emergencies.
Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi scored an important victory for himself and the island’s nautical tourism sector Tuesday, with the approval from U.S. House of Representatives for HR 2838, which authorizes foreign-flagged vessels that are more than 100 gross tons to transport tourists and other paying passengers between ports within Puerto Rico.
Representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis will visit Puerto Rico later this month as part of ongoing efforts to steer the island toward improving methods of collecting and producing high-quality statistics about local economic activity.
