Following a series of meetings with private trade groups, customers and government officials, maritime shipping company Crowley Puerto Rico Inc. agreed to modify and push back the implementation of a new “Chassis Usage Charge” that could have potentially meant an increase in prices for consumer goods transported to the island.
Upon determining that the final application from the Puerto Rico Ports Authority and the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority to turn the management of the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport over to private hands is “substantially complete,” the Federal Aviation Administration officially opened a 60-day review period.
JetBlue Airways confirmed Wednesday it will be moving into Luis Muñoz Marín’s vacant Terminal A at the end of May, upon reaching an agreement with the Puerto Rico Ports Authority. The agency had hinted late last year that such a move was in the works for the island’s largest air carrier.
