I was glad to see the story on H. Calero’s views on the IT industry. The communications and information technology (C&IT) industry has been the focus of attention in a number of studies at least going back to the 1999-2000 A.D. Puerto Rico government officials confirmed Tuesday the García-Padilla administration is working on a proposal to persuade aerospace giant Boeing to build its new 777X aircraft on the island, which could create thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in much-needed economic activity.
Five companies doing business on the island — and a newcomer that will open soon — have confirmed plans to expand their operations in Puerto Rico, creating 545 jobs through combined investments of more than $51.3 million, Gov. Alejandro García-Padilla said Monday.
