Nonprofit organization Ciencia Puerto Rico has received a $1.6 million, five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health to establish, in collaboration with Yale University, an innovative program to transform the training of young scientists on the island and stateside.
A year after its establishment, the Medical Tourism Corp. has spearheaded Puerto Rico’s efforts toward the fulfillment of specific projects that are generating an immediate economic impact for the sector, the entity’s Executive Director Francisco G. Bonet said Thursday.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded just over $14 million to fund 21 projects in Puerto Rico during the 2015 fiscal year, a record figure that went toward modernizing infrastructure, providing essential services and improving access to health care, José Otero-García, Rural Development State Director for Puerto Rico, said.
