Puerto Rico’s travel and tourism industry took the 52nd place in this year’s World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, slipping seven notches since the last time the report was published in 2011.
The pristine, white-powdered sands and turquoise waters of Flamenco Beach — on Puerto Rico's island municipality of Culebra — have earned it a fifth place ranking among the world’s top 10 beaches included in Trip Advisor’s “2013 Travelers’ Choice Beaches Awards.”
Puerto Rico is the best place in Latin America and the Caribbean to start a business and gain access to credit and is outranked only by Chile in the overall ease of doing business, according to the “Doing Business 2013: Smarter Regulations for Small and Medium-Size Enterprises” report released Tuesday by the IFC and World Bank.
