The Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust is on schedule to announce the recipients of about $2.2 million in funding earmarked to fuel the development of projects by local scientists and researchers in a wide field of sectors, agency Executive Director Iván Ríos-Mena told this media outlet.
As part of its mission to advance the island’s technological, scientific and business agenda, the Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust announced the achievements obtained from the Startup Weekends program at a closing ceremony last week.
The recent call by the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust, for local researchers to opt for grants in various areas generated “great enthusiasm” among scientists and researchers from the island, to the point that 234 letters of intent received exceeded the projected amount the entity expected to receive by 200 percent.
