The U.S. Small Business Administration and the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust (PRSTRT) have entered a strategic alliance to help foster small businesses working in research and innovation on the island.
The Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust has earmarked close to $5 million for a grants program focused on proposals presented by scientists and researchers related to the development and research in the fields of natural sciences, biotechnology, aerospace technology, communication, medical innovations, electronics, clean and renewable energies and related sciences, Iván Ríos-Mena, acting executive director of the PRST, said.
A group of Code for America (CfA) programmers will be helping the Puerto Rican government develop tools to address the island’s civic needs, CIO Giancarlo González and Science, Technology and Research Trust Executive Director Iván Ríos-Mena announced Thursday.
