USDA offers help to farmers affected by drought, fires

The USDA-Farm Service Agency announced Monday that the sign-up period for the Livestock Forage Disaster Program has begun, which provides compensation to eligible livestock producers that have suffered grazing losses due to drought or fire in Puerto Rico.

USDA extends deadline for Value-Added Producer grants

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program announced recently it has extended the deadline to apply for Value-Added Producer Grants to April 8, said José Otero-García, agency state director for Puerto Rico.
