University of Puerto Rico’s Río Piedras and Mayagüez campuses will split more than $1 million in grant money awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to “enhance the ability of these colleges and universities to support underserved students and develop a skilled American work force."
The towns of Moca, Manatí, Jayuya, Canóvanas and Barceloneta have been assigned a combined $405,312 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make critical repairs and improve housing conditions for low- and very-low-income rural residents.
A pair of dairy operations in Hatillo and two other operations in Guayanilla and Aibonito are the recipients of nearly $342,000 in U.S. Department of Agriculture grants to implement renewable energy and energy efficiency measures. In the case of Puerto Rico, all of the companies will integrate solar energy technology into their businesses.
