Wireless carrier AT&T announced Monday it has added extra capacity to 28 cell sites in St. Thomas and St. Croix; upgraded five sites in St. John, St. Thomas and St. Croix with LTE technology; and activated a new cell site in St. Thomas in its ongoing efforts to enhance the wireless capacity and coverage of its mobile Internet network available in the neighboring island chain.
Car sales dropped by 2.4 percent in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in June, when 9,388 units rolled off the lots — or 234 fewer than those sold the same month last year, the United Automobile Importers Group (known as GUIA for its initials in Spanish), announced Wednesday.
Last year was a gloomy one for the U.S. Virgin Islands, with fewer cruise ships calling on St. Thomas and St. Croix. Yet 2013 is looking very good so far — particularly when it comes to air arrivals, which are at their highest levels since the mid-1990s.
