Ferry service between Puerto Rico and its island municipalities of Vieques and Culebra could be be significantly cut back starting in January, because the government has apparently decided not to renew its contract with private operator Puerto Rico Fast Ferries, this media outlet learned Wednesday.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $30,000 to the Vieques Historical and Conservation Trust to fund surveys of old and decaying septic systems in five neighborhoods in the island municipality.
It has been a little more than three years since the W Retreat & Spa, Vieques Island opened its doors, and ever since then, it has become one of the most coveted properties by the world’s most discerning travelers, who will apparently spare no expense when it comes to vacationing in the lap of luxury.
