The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board a Performance Partnership grant of more than $1 million to administer water quality programs.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Monday the availability of $6.6 million for Puerto Rico water and waste infrastructure programs that will benefit several towns as well as the Roosevelt Roads Redevelopment Authority, which is getting the bulk of the assignment.
Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority Executive Director Alberto Lázaro said Sunday the chances of an increase in water rates could be pushed back with the approval of House Bill 2786, which seeks to address the public corporation’s funding needs for capital improvements.
