The Puerto Rico Tourism Co. on Thursday urged travelers to “make informed decisions” about summer plans, attempting to dispel perceptions about the extent of the spread of the Zika virus on the island.
The Puerto Rico Tourism Co. on Wednesday confirmed it is doing “everything in its power” to protect visitors to the island as it deals with the spread of the Zika virus, which so far has affected “less than one half of one percent” of the population,” agency Executive Director Ingrid I. Rivera-Rocafort said.
The two biggest threats facing Caribbean tourism today are four-letter words: Cuba and Zika. Both unnerve officials throughout the region, for very different reasons.
