Triple-S, Future of Health Foundations award $238K in scholarships

Fundación Triple-S and the Foundation for the Future of Health awarded $238,000 in scholarships to 21 students and professionals in high-need medical fields, part of ongoing efforts to address Puerto Rico’s shortage of health care providers.
Each recipient received $11,500 to help cover tuition, housing, books, equipment and transportation.
Now in its second year, the Fundación Triple-S program expanded to include neurosurgery, advanced nursing and pharmacy technician studies, in addition to existing areas like neurology, orthopedics and pediatrics. The Foundation for the Future of Health joined the initiative this year, expanding its reach.
“This year, we expanded the number of scholarships awarded to more effectively impact Puerto Rico’s medical and health communities,” said Thurman Justice, CEO of Triple-S Management and president of Fundación Triple-S.
Justice emphasized the need to retain medical talent on the island through continued training and development support.
The program also renewed scholarships for previous recipients who demonstrated academic progress and a commitment to health care in Puerto Rico. Leaders from both foundations highlighted the importance of collaboration in building an equitable, sustainable health care system and credited the Puerto Rico Community Foundation with managing the fund.
Founded after Hurricane María in 2017, Fundación Triple-S has focused on supporting vulnerable populations. Its scholarship program reflects a continued commitment to equity and health care access on the island.
