Triple-S launches MiConsulta MD CareStation
Triple-S introduced MiConsulta MD, its first on-demand medical consultation service using the OnMed CareStation, now available exclusively for members at Plaza Las Américas.
The company said the launch expands access to fast and convenient medical evaluations, particularly for patients who need timely care without an appointment.
“This marks the beginning of a new era of health care access,” said Michael Muchnicki, president of Triple-S Salud. “With MiConsulta MD, our members can consult a doctor quickly, safely and conveniently, without an appointment.”
Each CareStation includes tools to measure blood pressure and temperature, and allows physicians to examine a patient’s eyes, throat and skin through integrated diagnostic technology.
Triple-S partnered with OnMed, the company behind the patented CareStation units, to bring the service to Puerto Rico. The technology enables a hybrid evaluation model in which in-person diagnostic tools are operated under the guidance of a remotely connected physician.
Karthik Ganesh, CEO of OnMed, said the CareStation is designed to improve access while reducing pressure on traditional health care settings. He said the units have shown the ability to diagnose most patients in other markets.
The first MiConsulta MD installation is located near the JCPenney entrance at Plaza Las Américas, a site chosen for visibility, safety and foot traffic, the company said.
Muchnicki said Triple-S plans to expand the service across Puerto Rico in 2026 to increase access to medical care. He emphasized that the CareStations are intended to complement, not replace, primary care.
“We encourage our members to have a primary care physician to ensure continuity of care, while also recognizing the need to complement that with other access points like MiConsulta MD, Teleconsulta MD, and our Salus Medical Group clinics,” he said.
To use the station, Triple-S members enter, press START and present their plan card and identification. A doctor connects via video and guides the patient through vital sign checks and diagnostic tools.
There is no copay or deductible. Depending on the consultation, patients may receive a prescription, medical order or referral.
The unit has space for a wheelchair user and a companion or two adults. After each session, the CareStation sanitizes itself with a UV-C light cycle designed to eliminate 99.9% of germs and viruses before the next user enters.
Muchnicki said the goal is to merge human care with technological convenience.
“It truly is a new era of care with a doctor closer to you,” he said.
