UPR Utuado, Humacao win Enactus National Cup, advance to global stage

Enactus Puerto Rico marked its 20th anniversary with Social Enterprise Week 2025, which drew 525 participants and more than 225 business leaders who connected with university entrepreneurs.
The program included project showcases, workshops, symposia, and networking with incubators, accelerators and investors.
The highlight was the Enactus 2025 National Cup, where CODE from the University of Puerto Rico at Utuado and Comfy Bum from UPR Humacao won in the Early Stage and Impact categories.
CODE develops environmental projects using vetiver to restore soil and curb erosion, while Comfy Bum converts discarded tires into pet beds, supporting animal shelters and creating jobs for women and at-risk youth.
Both teams will represent Puerto Rico at the Enactus World Cup 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
“These young people have demonstrated that talent, innovation and social commitment are powerful tools for transforming communities,” said Alberto Estrella, chairman of the Enactus Puerto Rico board. “Their representation in Bangkok will be a source of pride for Puerto Rico.”
Rody Rivera Rojas, Enactus Puerto Rico’s executive director, said the week underscored collaboration. “The union between academia, the private sector and the entrepreneurial ecosystem opens real opportunities for students,” he said.
Enactus Puerto Rico now links more than 40 institutions, reaching more than 5,000 students and generating projects aimed at community development and sustainable growth.
