Vimenti year-end campaign highlights impact on families, students
Vimenti has launched a year-end campaign highlighting students and families as drivers of change, as the nonprofit seeks support from individuals, companies and partners for its family-centered education and social services model in Puerto Rico, the organization said.
The campaign, titled “Da esperanza, da oportunidad” (“Give hope, give opportunity”), centers on the experiences of families participating in Vimenti programs, including Vimenti School. The organization said the effort underscores how its Two-Generation, or 2GEN, model is intended to improve economic stability and opportunity for entire households.
“At Vimenti, we believe that eradicating poverty is not an abstract aspiration, but an achievable goal when work is guided by intention, data and a family-centered vision,” said Bárbara Rivera Batista, cofounder and chief executive officer of Vimenti.
“Placing our students and families at the heart of this campaign reaffirms our commitment to solutions that create stability today and real opportunities for the future,” she said.
Vimenti said its approach combines educational services for children with workforce development and support programs for parents. Over the past seven years, the organization said, that model has produced measurable results.
According to a study titled “Vimenti: Seven years of social and economic impact,” the 2GEN model reduced poverty levels by 12% among 237 participating families. The study also found a social return of $3.41 for every dollar invested in programs supporting mothers and fathers.
The analysis estimated that Vimenti has generated nearly $59 million in economic impact to date, with an additional $97 million projected as programs continue to expand, according to the organization.
For participants, the impact extends beyond economic measures. Melissa Ocasio-Hernández, a program participant and mother, said the support she received helped improve her family’s stability.
“Vimenti provided me with the tools and support I needed to move forward both as a mother and as a professional,” she said. “Today, I have greater stability and the peace of mind of knowing that my daughters are growing up with a different future. Supporting Vimenti means supporting families like mine.”
As part of the campaign, Vimenti said donations are tax-deductible and qualify under Sections 1101.1 and the Charitable Contributions for Educational and Community Facilities Law, or CECFL, allowing contributors to apply available tax incentives to charitable giving.
