Walmart Puerto Rico launches Open Call PR 2025

Walmart Puerto Rico will hold its Open Call PR 2025 program on Oct. 15 at its Carolina headquarters, giving local entrepreneurs the chance to pitch products directly to company buyers. Registration is open through Oct. 1.
The initiative focuses on expanding Walmart’s investment in products manufactured, processed, distributed or harvested on the island.
“Open Call is part of our promise to help Puerto Rican families save more and live better,” said Viviana Mercado, senior manager of corporate affairs. “This program allows us to bring a greater variety and quantity of quality merchandise to our shelves at low prices, but also, to boost job creation and commercial activity to strengthen our economy.”
Jennifer Garland, senior purchasing director, highlighted the chain’s support for small and mid-sized businesses.
“We know that supporting local businesses has a multiplier effect on Puerto Rico’s economic development,” she said. “In addition to inviting them to become our suppliers, we offer training throughout the process and guide them on how to ensure their offerings are attractive and aligned with the chain’s requirements.”
Walmart Puerto Rico has welcomed more than 300 suppliers through previous Open Call events. The retailer says it invests more than $1.8 billion annually in local purchases from manufacturers, distributors, processors, farmers and service providers.
