Workforce Training Academy opens new campus in Arecibo

Workforce Training Academy USA (WTA USA) has opened a new workforce development campus in Arecibo, which the organization described as a milestone for technical education and labor readiness in Puerto Rico.
The grand opening on Aug. 15 carried the theme “Training today’s talent for tomorrow’s challenges” and brought together leaders from education, industry and government. The event included a ribbon-cutting, facility tours and remarks from executives and partners.
“This new campus is more than just a school — it is a promise to the people of Puerto Rico,” said Ramón Serrato, CEO of WTA USA. “We are committed to bringing back the workforce to the island by equipping students with the skills they need to build their lives and begin successful careers in fields that are in high demand.”
The Arecibo campus launches with apprenticeship programs in construction trades and commercial driver’s license (CDL) training, in collaboration with Associated General Contractors of America Puerto Rico Chapter Workforce Development Foundation (AGC‑WDF) and Sonnell Truck Center. Organizers said the programs respond directly to labor shortages while creating career pathways for local talent.
WTA Puerto Rico acknowledged the support of AGC Puerto Rico Chapter, ICPR Junior College, Conexión Laboral regional offices and the Municipality of Arecibo in making the project possible.
With the new site, WTA aims to strengthen the skills pipeline for Puerto Rico’s most critical industries while positioning workforce training as a driver of economic growth.
