Niman Ranch, a community of more than 700 sustainable livestock farmers, announces Tuesday it has partnered with Provimi de Puerto Rico in Vega Baja to distribute its full product line of antibiotic and hormone-free fresh and prepared pork, beef and lamb meat throughout Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands.
“Our partnership with Provimi de Puerto Rico is consistent with the way we run our business,” stated Jeff Tripician, Niman Ranch executive vice president.
“We work with family owned and operated distributors throughout the U.S. and Caribbean, as the leaders in Puerto Rico, Provimi will provide significant focus in all channels of business,” he said. “Its sales team shares our values and integrity while being committed to expanding Niman Ranch in their region.”
San Francisco-based Niman Ranch was founded 40 years ago on the belief that raising livestock according to traditional agriculture practices was better for the land, the animals and the farmers. Niman Ranch developed strict protocols, which consistently deliver the finest tasting pork, beef and lamb.
The protocols require that the livestock are never-ever treated or administered antibiotics or hormones and are raised outdoors or in deeply bedded pens, where they are able to express their natural instinctive behaviors, like rooting and roaming. Niman Ranch works independent family farmers and ranchers who are paid a premium to raise livestock the traditional humane way.
“We’re honored to be selected as the distributor for the Puerto Rico market of the best all-natural meat program available. Our team will work hard to represent all the small independent family farmers and ranchers in the Niman Ranch community,” said Eliott Reyes Jr., President of Provimi.
Provimi was founded in 1970 by a dairy farmer, Eliott Reyes Sr., and has continued to evolve to become the leader in Puerto Rico of premium meats and specialty foods. Provimi will now be capable of serving the top chefs and grocery stores on the island with products from Niman Ranch.
