Court slaps 37 retailers with $205K in fines in Britto knock-off case

A total of 37 defendants in the copyright infringement case filed by pop Artist Romero Britto earlier this month will have to pay a combined $205,000 in fines, imposed by the judge overseeing the case after failing to reach an out-of-court settlement agreement.

Governor signs prepaid wireless phone registry law

The concerns expressed by the island’s wireless carriers and retailers over the potentially harmful effects of regulating the sale of prepaid cellphones on consumers and competition apparently fell on deaf ears, as Gov. Luis Fortuño signed Tuesday a law mandating it.

Despite the ups and downs it had in 2010, Banco Popular has been selected Puerto Rico’s “Bank of the Year” by “The Banker” magazine, a highly respected publication in circulation since 1926 and run by the Financial Times.
