Retail activity is picking up at several local malls, with new store openings in San Juan, Caguas, Ponce and Barceloneta next month, this media outlet confirmed.

One of the retailers expanding will be Bath & Body Works, which will open two new stores in Plaza del Caribe in Ponce and Las Catalinas Mall in Caguas, on Sept. 22 and Oct. 20, respectively, store officials confirmed.

Meanwhile, The Mall of San Juan will receive seven new tenants in coming weeks, several of which are new to the market.

Aveda Lifestyle Store, a retailer that offers skin care, cosmetics, perfume, and hair care products is already seeking out management staff for its future store at the upscale mall that opened its doors March 26. Meanwhile, Marc Joseph New York will also open its first store in Puerto Rico on Sept. 26, bringing to the island its men’s and women’s clothing and footwear.

The mall is expected to announce the newcomers soon, a retail sector source confirmed.

The Mall of San Juan will also add a number of tenants it had previously confirmed, namely, clothing retailer Hollister & Co., which opened Saturday; women’s clothing retailer Loft, scheduled to open its doors Sept. 13; clothing retailer for men, women, and kids, Brooks Brothers, slated to open Sept. 15; gourmet food shop Oil & Vinegar, which should also open Sept. 15; gourmet foods and professional-quality cookware purveyor Williams-Sonoma, which should open Sept. 25; and clothing, accessories, gifts and home décor retailer Anthropologie, slated to open Oct. 30.

Over at the Puerto Rico Premium Outlets, A|X Armani Exchange is scheduled to open its second store in Puerto Rico, and its first outlet concept on the island, which sources said could open by mid-September.
