AI in Action program expands to Bayamón workshops

HR Disruptor founder and CEO Julybeth Alicea-Rodríguez

The “Artificial Intelligence in Action” program arrived at Engine 4 in Bayamón, aiming to bridge Puerto Rico’s digital divides through practical and ethical training.

The initiative, led by HR Disruptor founder and CEO Julybeth Alicea-Rodríguez, combines the expertise of university professors and business leaders to deliver hands-on instruction with immediate applications.

“Our goal is to be a digital equity social movement that reaches different geographic locations in Puerto Rico to expand access to people from different communities,” Alicea-Rodríguez said. “We have already managed to bring the program to San Juan, Arecibo and Bayamón, and we will be in Caguas next month, and eventually Humacao, Ponce and the western part of Puerto Rico.”

In Bayamón, more than 50 participants attended workshops, bringing the total to 200 across the three sessions so far. The program focuses on AI’s potential for socioeconomic development by providing tools to optimize processes and create new business opportunities while promoting ethical and strategic use.

“Artificial Intelligence in Action educates, trains and empowers participants so they not only understand what AI is, but also use it usefully, ethically and effectively in their work or business environment,” she said.

Workshops cover four modules: AI fundamentals, data analysis, marketing automation with ChatGPT and creating AI-powered employee training systems. The next session is scheduled for Sept. 18 at Huertas College in Caguas.
