Aire by O:live opens in Isla Verde with $30M investment
The O:live Hotels brand has expanded in Puerto Rico with the opening of Aire by O:live, a $30 million boutique hotel in Isla Verde that blends Caribbean architectural elements with contemporary design.
The property, located on the site of the former San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel, received $5.7 million in tax credits through the Department of Economic Development and Commerce’s Puerto Rico Tourism Incentives Code (Act 60-2019), which supports high-end and boutique tourism projects.
“Located in one of our most visited tourist areas, Aire by O:live offers an experience that reflects Puerto Rico’s unparalleled charm as a destination. This type of investment elevates the tourism industry, boosts the local economy, and demonstrates the power of collaboration between the private sector and the government,” said Williannette Robles, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Co.
Developed by Casa Solana LLC and Crown Investments LLC, the project created 130 direct and indirect jobs during construction and now sustains 80 permanent positions.
The 78-room hotel includes a pool, rooftop terrace, restaurants, spa and gym, catering to visitors looking for higher-end accommodations.
“Tourism is no longer a complement to our economy and has become one of its main drivers,” said Gov. Jenniffer González during the inauguration ceremony. “Supporting projects like Aire by O:live demonstrates our conviction that investing in tourism is investing in economic development and a way to export our culture.”
Meanwhile, Economic Development Secretary Sebastián Negrón noted that the initiative aligns with the island’s strategic goals for sustainable growth.
“This investment, which combines incentives and capital from entrepreneurs, exceeds $30 million, not only revitalizes an iconic space in Isla Verde, but also generates jobs, creates opportunities and raises the standard of Puerto Rican hospitality,” he said.
O:live Hotels founders Fernando Dávila and Loisse Herger continue expanding their brand, which also includes properties in Condado and Humacao. The company recently opened O:live Villa Firenze in Italy and announced plans to build a new property in Isabela with an estimated investment of $30 million, focused on wellness tourism and sustainable experiences.
