As part of its efforts to continue to grow its Medicare Advantage market share on the island, Constellation Health has partnered with local startup, Celero Health Solutions, to enable their enrollment agents with a mobile solution to streamline the end-to-end sales through enrollment process.

The solution, called “Medicare STEP App,” enables Constellation’s agents and promoters to better inform beneficiaries about the features of the plan and also to capture and process the enrollment electronically through wireless tablets, speeding up the process and reducing errors.

“We’re thrilled to provide our customers with yet another reason to choose Constellation Health as an innovative Medicare Advantage plan in Puerto Rico” said Iván Colón, president of Constellation Health.

“The yearly Medicare Advantage open enrollment period can be a stressful time for beneficiaries, but the Medicare STEP App helps our agents provide our beneficiaries with the most accessible and convenient enrollment experience in the market today,” Colón said.

According to the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services there are currently approximately 564,000 enrolled Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in Puerto Rico, which represents 74 pecent of the eligible population, the highest percentage of any state under the Federal program.

In 2014, Medicare Advantage plans represented $4.8 billion in healthcare spending on the island, but are scheduled for an incremental funding reduction of 9 percent to 14 percent in 2016 which could result in there being less healthcare providers available in each of the plan’s networks.

The “Medicare STEP App” is the first cloud-based solution developed by local startup Celero Health Solutions for the $148 billion dollar Medicare Advantage market.

“We work closely with our customers during the implementation process to ensure that the solution supports an efficient and fully compliant business process,” said Celero’s CEO, María Isabel Ríos, adding that prior to launching the solution, it was fully reviewed and approved by the CMS.

Celero Health Solutions is currently expanding its customer base in the mainland United States from its offices in Miami, FL and New York, NY.
