Discover Puerto Rico launches “Mi Casa, Mi Navidad” hub
Discover Puerto Rico has launched “Mi Casa, Mi Navidad,” a digital platform that showcases Puerto Rican holiday traditions through bilingual storytelling, recipes, audio features, and original artwork.
The initiative seeks to document and share cultural practices associated with what is widely considered the longest holiday season in the Western Hemisphere.
“It’s important to us to share the richness of Boricua traditions with everyone, whether you’re part of the Puerto Rican diaspora, a local resident, a visitor to our island, or someone discovering our culture for the first time,” said Dalissa Zeda, digital marketing director at Discover Puerto Rico, the island’s destination marketing organization.
“With Mi Casa, Mi Navidad, we want people everywhere to experience the warmth and togetherness that define our holiday season,” she said.
The project was developed with local creative studio Mundo Nana & Nina and illustrator Waldemar Lozada. The platform features a four-chapter bilingual storybook, an immersive audiobook incorporating coquí sounds and holiday music, and traditional food and drink recipes, including asopao, arroz con gandules and coquito.
“This launch is a vibrant tribute to Puerto Rico’s culture and the joy that unites us during the holidays,” said Storm Tussey, chief marketing officer. “Through this initiative, we’re inviting visitors to connect authentically with the Island and experience the true spirit firsthand.”
The narrative follows two sisters, Lara and Lía, as they reconnect with Puerto Rican traditions through their grandparents. Themes include parrandas, Nochebuena and Three Kings Day.
“Seeing our childhood come to life through our words and Waldemar’s illustrations has been the most special part of this collaboration,” said writers Caroll and Joanne López. Lozada said the project offered “a wonderful opportunity to share my work and passion for art with the world.”
New chapters and features will be added throughout the season, including guides to January events leading up to the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián.
