Four Seasons Puerto Rico to open Nov. 20 in Río Grande

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Puerto Rico sits on a two-mile beach in Río Grande on the island’s northeastern coast.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Puerto Rico has begun taking reservations ahead of its opening on Nov. 20, marking the return of one of the Caribbean’s luxury destinations.

The property — formerly the St. Regis Bahía Beach community in Río Grande — has undergone a full refurbishment and now offers an expanded portfolio of experiences on land and sea.

Four Seasons and Paulson Puerto Rico, which owns the property, announced plans in December 2024 for the hospitality and branded residential company to assume management of the resort and residences, as News is my Business reported.

“With its opening just weeks away, we’re proud to introduce our signature service and timeless approach to luxury to this remarkable island,” said Antoine Chahwan, president of hotel operations for Four Seasons in the Americas. “In partnership with Paulson Puerto Rico, we are creating experiences for guests and residents that reflect the beauty and vibrancy of Puerto Rico.”

The resort features 139 refurbished guest accommodations and 10 dining outlets, ranging from international cuisine to beach cocktails. Highlights include a lobby lounge showcasing Puerto Rican flavors, a pop-up sushi bar and Sand Dollar, a beachfront venue.

Other amenities include a full-service spa, wellness center and two fitness facilities.

Set along a two-mile stretch of beach and surrounded by a 483-acre private nature reserve, Four Seasons Puerto Rico is the only Caribbean resort designated a Certified Gold Audubon International Signature Sanctuary.

“We’re thrilled to welcome guests to the perfect Puerto Rico beach resort, immersed in a vast nature sanctuary,” said General Manager Pablo Molinari.

Activities include guided rainforest walks, kayaking, paddleboarding, golf on a Robert Trent Jones Jr. course and lessons at an expanded racket center for tennis and pickleball. Families can visit an animal sanctuary, inflatable water park and children’s activity center.

The resort also has more than 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space for weddings and corporate retreats. Signature excursions will include canoe trips through the Espíritu Santo Nature Reserve, hiking and ziplining in El Yunque National Forest, and nighttime kayaking in a bioluminescent lagoon. Cultural tours will feature Old San Juan’s forts, architecture and cafés.

Reservations are available online, including a bed-and-breakfast package for early guests. Holiday events are scheduled for the festive season. Residences and villas within the resort community are also available for purchase.

The Río Grande property joins Four Seasons’ regional portfolio in Nevis, Anguilla and the Bahamas, with developments underway in Cartagena, Belize and the Dominican Republic.
