Frontier Airlines adds nonstop route from San Juan to Puerto Plata

Frontier Airlines has expanded its Caribbean network with the launch of a new nonstop route from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
The twice-weekly service will add more than 4,400 seats to the market and is expected to contribute about $870,000 in economic impact for Puerto Rico, according to Puerto Rico Tourism Company Executive Director Willianette Robles.
The new route is part of the airline’s broader regional growth, which has accelerated since it opened an operational base in San Juan last year. Frontier now offers nonstop flights to 24 destinations from Puerto Rico.
“This new route brings yet another convenient and affordable travel option for Dominicans traveling to Puerto Rico, Puerto Ricans exploring the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, and tourists looking to soak up the sun in the Caribbean this summer,” said Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design at Frontier Airlines.
To mark the launch, the airline is offering introductory fares starting at $99.
“We will continue our efforts to attract new routes and airlines that strengthen Puerto Rico’s connection with the Caribbean and generate economic development and jobs,” Robles said.
