The Technology and Innovation Committee of the Puerto Rico CPA Society will hold its first “Innovation in Accounting and Finance” forum on May 20 at the Condado Plaza Hilton Hotel.

The event will gather a group of experts who will discuss a diverse agenda of technology applied to industry, organizers said.

“It’s the first time that we celebrate such an important event aimed primarily to the managers of accounting and finance companies. Its focus is on the relevance of technology for the effective and efficient implementation of professional accounting and finance,” said CPA Society President Zulmarie Urrutia-Vélez.

“We hope to bring together a large group of these professionals and provide new tools that they can incorporate to rethink processes and implement innovation in their work areas,” she said. “The CPAs reiterate the importance of technology, not only to support professional management, but as an industry in itself.”

Among the topics to be discussed are: The role of the accounting and finance executives in Puerto Rico over the next decade; The most common mistakes companies make when procuring and implementing technology in the finance department; Global trends on the cloud; Month end closing: tools, processes and methodologies they use to close fast; The results of the Puerto Rico Office of Finance Profile; and difficulties finding macroeconomic information about Puerto Rico.

Panelists include: Jorge M. Mejía, Fusionworks, president of the Technology and Innovation Committee; Ana Matilde Bonilla, CFO of GFR Media; and Héctor Guerrero, president of Nexvel Consulting, among others.

The forum provides continuing education credits for CPAs. For more information, visit www.colegioccpa.com.
