Olympic medalist Puig new Universal Group ambassador
Starting Jan. 1, Puerto Rican tennis player and Puerto Rico’s first Olympic gold medalist Monica Puig will become the ambassador of Universal Group in Puerto Rico and the United States.
The three-year agreement was announced last week, at the TASIS School in Dorado, where Puig participated in the TEDxYouth platform along with Puerto Rican athletes Carlos Delgado, Sebastián Rosado, Brenda Torres, Jaime and Javier Suárez and Adriana Diaz.
“For us it is a privilege and a great joy to welcome Monica Puig as ambassador of the Universal family in Puerto Rico and the United States,” said Monique Miranda, President of Universal Group.
The insurer chose the tennis player for their competitive career and her historic achievement during the Olympic Games in Rio, where she won the gold medal in the women’s singles competition, and for her defense of Puerto Rican values, which are in line with Universal’s corporate beliefs.
“Puig has become an inspiration to all and is the example of the ability Puerto Ricans have to become people of influence in our island wherever we live or wherever we are,” Miranda added.
“For me it is an honor to be part of the Universal brand and thank you for believing in me,” Puig said during the brief contract-signing ceremony that took place Nov. 19.
