New board execs named at Mr. Special, leadership at CTI Consulting

This edition of Climbing the Corporate Ladder features new leadership appointments at Mr. Special Supermarkets and CTI Consulting Group.

Mr. Special appoints new board members
Mr. Special Supermarkets has reorganized its board of directors, formally appointing Jorge L. Fuentes-Benejam, an engineer, and corporate attorney Luis E. Dubón-Arraiza to help strengthen its leadership team.
The appointments, finalized on June 13, are part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance transparency, governance and long-term planning.
Company President Edwin Alonso described the move as “a new chapter in Mr. Special’s history” and a step toward reinforcing its operations and business practices.
Fuentes-Benejam brings more than 35 years of experience as an industrial engineer and entrepreneur in the construction and manufacturing industries. He has held leadership roles at companies such as Gabriel Fuentes Jr. Construction Co. and Fuentes Concrete Pile Co., and has served with the Puerto Rico Society of Engineers and the Puerto Rico Community Foundation.
Dubón-Arraiza, an attorney with nearly four decades of experience, has worked in public service and corporate law. He is director of Intership, an affiliate of Méndez & Co., and serves as secretary of the Puerto Rico Bar Association’s governing board. He also advises clients through D Group Equities on corporate governance, real estate law and economic development.
With the new appointments, Mr. Special said it is reinforcing its board as the company continues to grow in Puerto Rico’s competitive retail and distribution market.
Passing of the baton at CTI Consulting Group
Viviane M. Fortuño, founder of CTI Consulting Group, has been appointed director of human resources and labor relations at the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC, in Spanish).
With the move, Fortuño is handing over leadership of the firm to Samira Sánchez-Robles, a longtime team member who previously held a management role.
“Today I welcome a new chapter in public service with a clear purpose: to contribute to the development and future of Puerto Rico,” Fortuño said. “CTI is moving to a new generation that shares the values, mission and vision that have defined the company since its inception.”
Sánchez-Robles thanked Fortuño “for her visionary leadership, unwavering commitment and invaluable contribution to the development and positioning of CTI Consulting Group over the years.” She added that her “legacy will continue to be a source of inspiration as we usher in this new era, equally committed to excellence, innovation and sustainable growth.”
