The long shuttered Normandie Hotel, a national historic site and one of San Juan's iconic buildings, may finally have a buyer. Hector Aponte, business director of NAI Puerto Rico, one of two real estate firms handling the sale of the property, said that a stateside company has signed an option to purchase the hotel from its owner, New York-based Capmark Finance Inc.
The Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority board recently decided to move forward with the evaluation of four new construction priority projects, namely the commuter train from Caguas to San Juan, a new women’s correctional facility, a new men’s correctional facility, and the conversion to natural gas of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority power plants in San Juan and Palo Seco, government officials said Wednesday.
Puerto Rico’s current economic situation is deep-rooted in the government’s inability to understand the gravity of the problem and the outcome of doing the same things over and over again, while expecting different results.
