Point Guard lands Puerto Rico certificate of authority
Point Guard Insurance announced Monday it has obtained the required certificate of authority issued by the Puerto Rico Insurance Commissioner’s Office, officially becoming the island’s newest new property and casualty insurer.
The milestone comes as the company has achieved an enrollment of more than 500,000 customers islandwide, Point Guard executives said.
“2013 has been another year of record achievements, growth and important developments for us. This includes the renovation and construction of new headquarters in Buchanan, opening four additional service offices on the island and the launch of the mobile platform,” said Luis Miranda, who along with Javier Cortés and Luis López, founded Point Guard Insurance almost three years ago.
Point Guard Insurance is focused on providing compulsory auto insurance plans, breaking the previously existing monopoly on those types of policies.
“We focus on digital and technological services to offer better and more efficient service to our customers,” said López, referring to the company’s integration of tablet computers to provide for faster post-accident quotes.
Point Guard Insurance has customer service offices in San Juan, Aguada, Ponce, Morovis, Manatí, Humacao and Carolina. It employs 120 full-time staffers.
