Puerto Rico closed 2025 with record tourism activity, posting its fifth consecutive year of growth across major indicators, according to data released by Discover Puerto Rico, the island’s destination marketing organization.

Air travel continued to rise, with more than 6.8 million passenger arrivals recorded at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in 2025, a 3% increase from the previous year. Cruise tourism also expanded, with more than 1.6 million cruise passengers arriving at Puerto Rico’s ports, nearly 8% higher than in 2024.

Lodging demand reached close to 7.9 million room nights booked during the year, an 8% increase year over year. Employment in leisure and hospitality climbed to a record 102,300 jobs by November 2025, up 4% from the prior year, according to the organization.

The meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions sector also recorded growth, securing 262,779 room nights in 2025, an 18% increase. Discover Puerto Rico said those group bookings generated an estimated $207 million in economic impact.

“In 2025, Puerto Rico reached new heights, reaffirming the island’s place as a premier global destination,” said Storm Tussey, chief marketing officer of Discover Puerto Rico. “Beyond the milestones and marquee moments, Puerto Rico’s power lies in its rhythm, the fusion of history, culinary brilliance and cultural energy.”

The year also saw new investment in the hospitality sector, including the opening of the Four Seasons Resort Puerto Rico and large-scale renovations at existing hotels, along with expanded offerings from international hotel brands.

Discover Puerto Rico attributed the continued growth to marketing strategies centered on culture, sports, wellness and heritage tourism, as well as partnerships aimed at promoting responsible travel.

Looking ahead to 2026, the organization said it plans to continue emphasizing cultural storytelling, luxury development and a calendar of international sporting and cultural events.
