Quick Bites opens 3rd AI store at Luis Muñoz Marín Airport
Airport Shoppes has opened its third artificial intelligence-operated store at Puerto Rico’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, adding another automated food and beverage outlet for travelers.
The new Quick Bites store in Terminal B represents a $495,000 investment and began operations Nov. 1.
Airport Shoppes President José Algarín said the company is introducing new options for passengers by incorporating artificial intelligence into its retail operations.
“We’re expanding our offerings for travelers, including hot food such as pizza, hamburgers and chicken, in stores operating with artificial intelligence. These will be available 24/7,” Algarín said.
The new store occupies 486 square feet and joins two other AI-operated locations the company has opened in just over a year: the first Quick Bites in Terminal A in July 2024 and Gustos Café in Terminal D in March 2025.
According to the company, it is “not only among the first in the Caribbean, but also the fourth airport in the United States to have such an advanced system.”
Another AI-operated store is planned for 2026, which would place one in each terminal.
The system uses visual detection, machine learning and artificial intelligence to process purchases automatically.
“If you take something from one of the refrigerators and return it to the same spot, you won’t be charged,” the company said regarding the accuracy of the technology.
