Mycogen Seeds Puerto Rico Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company and an affiliated company of Dow AgroSciences, opened its new $60 million seed research and development facility in Salinas on Wednesday.
Agriculture Secretary Myrna Comas said during a Senate hearing Monday that Puerto Rico produces more than 1.2 million pounds of rice on about 350 acres of land as part of a Food Safety Plan launched by the current administration.
Santa Isabel-based fresh produce distributor Caribbean Produce Exchange recently launched a new marketing campaign under the “The Mother of All Tomatoes” slogan to promote and support the local tomato harvest produced by the Gargiulo Puerto Rico farm, which is a partner in the effort, said Gualberto Rodríguez III, president of CPE.
