Puerto Rican consumers who have refrained from including corned beef in their shopping baskets because of how expensive it has gotten in recent years, may be happy to know that a local farmer and entrepreneur will begin selling a locally produced brand of the favorite island staple.
Walmart Puerto Rico is pushing ahead with its goal of expanding its support of local agriculture with the addition of locally harvested white button mushrooms purchased from from Aibonito-based Setas de Puerto Rico Inc.
"Agriculture: Sustainability and world wealth" is the theme of an upcoming forum that will explore farming as a necessary variable to achieve development, to combat hunger and create wealth. The event is slated for Oct. 20, starting at 8 a.m. at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus School of Education.
